Organized Company Hackathon
Organized the company's first hackathon (70+ people, 10 teams); its pipeline put two ideas into revenue-generating production.
Outcome
The hackathon started an innovation pipeline that incubated six ideas. Two became revenue-generating production deployments.
What it took
- Sold the idea to ownership and secured the budget, which took three months to approve.
- Ran three cloud skills challenges in the run-up.
- Coached teams on presenting and on focusing on the value proposition.
- Partnered with eight vendors who donated swag, and awarded $1,500 in gift cards to the top three teams.
- Designed a WWE-style championship belt for the winning team.
The theme
Teams worked to the theme "Protecting the Patient", creating ideas for new revenue streams and better customer experience. The winners, Galactus Cactus, built a software improvement that further secured patient PHI in the claims reimbursement process.
