## The product

Creative Social was a marketplace for creators to sell NFTs — digital art, music and other digital assets — through a decentralized application (DApp) on the Polygon blockchain. The venture has since closed, and I am no longer involved with it.

## Architecture decisions

- **Wallets for everyone.** Social-login users got a custodial wallet automatically; crypto-native users could connect their own; card buyers used a custodial wallet. The trade-offs are in [the wallets write-up](https://mikereams.com/writing/getting-started-with-digital-wallets).
- **Cards alongside crypto.** Stripe and an on-ramp (OnRamper) let buyers pay without holding crypto first.
- **Managed services over custom infrastructure.** Next.js front end; Supabase and PostgreSQL for data; Sanity for content; Pinata for IPFS storage; thirdweb, Moralis and Alchemy for blockchain access; OpenZeppelin Defender for smart-contract operations; Magic.Link for passwordless sign-in.
