# Blueprint: open tools for architects

> Blueprint is the set of open tools I build for architects: a capability catalog you can import, a canvas that knows CSDM, skills your AI agent can run, and a starter for a knowledge base that maintains itself. Free, open data and open source, each on its own address.

## The pieces

### 1. Blueprint Catalog (the data)

Business capabilities by industry, value streams, products and the capabilities they realize, patterns, standards and technology end-of-life dates. Pages, a JSON API, exports for ServiceNow, LeanIX, Ardoq and ArchiMate, and a read-only MCP server.

### 2. Blueprint Modeler (the canvas)

A browser-only canvas for sketching application architecture the CSDM way. It offers only the relationships the model allows, flags common gaps as you draw, and exports JSON, SVG, ArchiMate, draw.io or a ServiceNow import sheet. No sign-up, no server.

### 3. Skills (for your agent)

Step-by-step procedures an AI coding agent can run: map applications to capabilities, compare product coverage, check a stack's end-of-life dates, write a decision record that cites its patterns. One install command each.

### 4. solvent-brain (the starter)

A starter for an architecture knowledge base an AI agent maintains: an operating contract, a wiki with a metamodel, templates, session-close routines and integrity checks. Clone it, point an agent at it, and it keeps the vault honest.

## How they fit

1. The Catalog holds the shared vocabulary: capabilities, value streams, products, patterns and standards, each with a stable id.
2. The Modeler is where a design gets drawn against that vocabulary, with the CSDM rules checked as you go.
3. The Skills let an AI agent do the routine parts against the same ids.
4. solvent-brain is where the results live: a knowledge base an agent keeps consistent between sessions.

For agents: the catalog has its own MCP server at https://catalog.mikereams.com/mcp and JSON API at https://catalog.mikereams.com/api/v1/; this site's MCP server covers the writing, work and diagrams.
